Starting a business

In sixth grade, I got left out of my friends’ group FaceTime because I didn’t have an iPhone. If I wanted one, I had to figure out how to make money.

So I started offering people help with the jobs they didn’t want to do themselves. That became Fox Hill Guy: landscaping, snow removal, animal care and general handyman work around Greater Boston. I kept it going through middle school and high school, then took it full scale in the summer of 2023. Along the way it grew to more than 60 loyal clients.

Getting found

I started by walking door to door with my fliers, dropping them in mailboxes around the neighborhood and posting them in local Facebook groups.

Then I coded a website myself to showcase my services. Together, the fliers and the website generated $15,000 in profit.

Growing through TaskRabbit

I joined TaskRabbit in 2023 and completed 90 tasks there, from yard work to full moves, with a 4.9-star rating across 39 reviews. Separately, I moved out around 200 IU students during finals week.

To keep up with bigger jobs, I recruited and trained three employees.
